Prof. Adewale Akinsola
Emeritus Professor Adewale Akinsola is a retired Professor of Medicine, and Consultant Nephrologist at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Nigeria.
Professor Akinsola served the OAU in many leadership roles, including Head, Department of Medicine 1985 -1988; Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences. 1992 -1998; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) 1999- 2003; and played a leading role in the development of the university’s first Strategic Plan (2004-2008). A highly motivated teacher, researcher, mentor and physician. He pioneered Kidney Transplantation in the Nigerian public hospital setting.
He has occupied leadership positions at various times outside of OAU. These include: : i )Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo (2004-2005) ii ) Foundation Provost, College of Health Sciences, Bowen University, Iwo; (2007 -2009) etc. He is currently the Director of Medical and Health Services of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
